Nayawin Rar 296 1st Jacket Patch

The Nayawin Rar 296 1st Jacket Patch was issued back in the early 1980's. Over all this time, I was not aware of a variety or variation of this patch. Well that was until a couple days ago, when I was informed by a fellow lodge collector of this. The patch was designed at the 1985 Fall Fellowship by Ed Schiffler from Catawba Lodge 459 who was Section Secretary at the time. Due to the price of a back patch at the time, they were sold on a pre-order basis with only a few extras ordered. The patches were available at the 1986 Old North State Conclave. The image I have come to know as the J1, had thick lettering in the bonnet and a dark face.

This NEW variation of the Jacket patch has Thin Lettering in the bonnet and a Lighter Face. Although the Totem in the rosette of the thin letter variety is missing some blue and has some of the "bead work" shown in it, the other distinctions are there and will make this a new variety.... the "J1b" .

Why are the W’s a different color?? Green on the “thick letter” and “black” on the think letter one??? or is it the lighting of the pic?
