Tsoiotsi Tsogalii Lodge 70 Update Fall 2015

2015 Fall Fellowship / Council Camporee

On the weekend of November 13 – 15 Tsoiotsi Tsogalii Lodge celebrated the Order of the Arrow’s 100th anniversary. The lodge decided to expand its traditional Fall Fellowship into a Council Camporee. Over 1,400 Scouts and Scouters gathered at Cherokee Scout Reservation for a weekend of fun and competition.

The lodge used the format of a section conclave for the weekend’s program. Scouts set up camp on Friday evening then gathered for an evening show which featured a welcome from the Lodge chief, Scout Executive, and Council President. They learned a little about the history of the OA in the Old North State Council area then were entertained by a juggler/magician.

Temperatures dropped into the 30s on Saturday morning, but the sunny day warmed up nicely. Troops were responsible for their own meals except for Saturday lunch which was provided. The lodge set up numerous exhibits on the Centennial Trail and troops competed in quest events. A patch auction offered Scouts a chance to bid on lots of local issues. Saturday evening the lodge recognized its eleven Centurion Award recipients. Following the evening show the Scouts enjoyed a carnival with lots of music, inflatable obstacle course, food and games.

Sunday saw everyone pack up and depart following a brief morning worship service. The lodge gained valuable experience to prepare them to host a section conclave in a couple of years.

All participants received a pocket patch for the weekend.
